Itinerary: You will arrive at the Muscat International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met by our friendly & efficient AFAQ Travel & Tourism chauffeur who will assist you to the comforts of our vehicle to drive you to the hotel. Overnight stay at four* Hotel in Muscat.
Itinerary: Pick up 8.30 a.m. Your city tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East, the only mosque open to non-Muslims and expatriates in Oman. Post this we will take small photo stop at Royal Opera House Muscat. Following this, you will travel with along the picturesque Muttrah Corniche and visit Muttrah Souq, which retains the chaotic interest of a traditional Arab; market albeit housed under modern timber roofing. Whilst strolling through Muttrah Souq you will have the chance to buy Omani specialties like Frankincense, Omani daggers (Khanjar) and you will have the chance to barter for beautiful silver handicrafts and scarves. You will also be able to enjoy a moment along the corniche admiring the various cruise ships on the water at Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Port. After this you will visit Bait Al Zubair Museum. When you leave the Museum tour, you will be satisfied with the wealth of information you have learnt about the country’s structure, tradition and heritage. The day will start with a visit to Jabreen Castle. This castle is the most beautiful historic castle in the whole of Oman. It is different from other Omani forts because it was not built in the times of war and is not a fortification that was expanded by different Imams overs centuries. It is a palace constructed in times of peace by a ruler who was passionate about science and art and that made it the most beautiful historic castle found in the Sultanate. Post that we will visit Misfat Al Abriyeen, set in a stunning landscape above terraced plantations of date palms. This is a rare sight in Oman as most palms are grown on the plains. The ancient houses and ruined watchtower perched on the mountain complete the scene. You will then proceed to Al Hamra, The oldest villages in Oman with clay houses dating back up to 400 years. Continue your journey to the top of Jebel Shams, “Sun Mountain” and Oman’s highest peak at 3009 meters. The cooler temperatures will surprise as you reach the top to get a spectacular view of the “Grand Canyon”. You will depart your hotel and proceed towards the spectacular Nizwa Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman. You will also visit the Nizwa traditional Souq. The Souq is a lively place and an ideal location to purchase handicrafts and souvenirs. Locals come to the market to trade predominantly goats, but also cattle which are sold at auction and you will see goats and cows tied up on every available pillar and post and frenetic sales going on all around. After completing your Souq experience, you will visit old village called Birkat Al Mauz. It is a village in the Ad Dakhiliyah Region. It is located at the entrance of Wadi al-Muaydin on the southern rim of Jebel Akhdar and home to a restored fort called Bait al Redidah. A road and a walking route
Through Wadi al-Muaydin up to the Saiq Plateau start from here. Post that we will start your journey to Wahiba Sands. In the heart of the golden sands of Sharqiyah Desert nestled among stunning and ever changing patterns of sand dunes, is the Arabian Oryx Camp. Here you will find a luxurious Bedouin style air-conditioned tent with a private Bathroom, also offering a selection of free luxury toiletries. After settling into the camp you will be offered the amazing experience of dune bashing, here your driver will show you his sand dune-driving skills with an adrenaline-fueled 4WD safari across 150-metre dunes with a spectacular view of the sunset. After an early breakfast at the desert camp, you will depart on an exciting 4WD journey through the desert, visit the local Bedouin house, and have Omani Coffee. You will enjoy their traditional ways of hospitality. Our next stop will be Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis. The wadi has clear deep blue water and counts among the few wadis of Oman that hold water all year round. From the mountain springs, the water is led to the oasis where it sustains the typical date palms. The pretty villages of Wadi Bani Khalid cling precariously to the rugged mountainside. Post this we will start our journey towards traditional city of ‘Sur’and will visit traditional ‘Dhow’ building (wooden shipbuilding) factory, where they use to build Arabian dhows the traditional way and the carpenters use to put the whole thing together without any reference drawings. Post this will check in to to hotel in Sur. You will have time to relax at the hotel and you can have dinner 7:30 before a drive to Ras Al Jinz to see the turtles at around 9:00 pm. whilst we are very successful in sighting turtles, there is no guarantee as it is a natural phenomenon. You will depart from Sur to travel south towards the Quriyat Region. Our first stop will be Wadi Shab (Wadi meaning valley between cliffs). Upon arrival at Wadi Shab you will transfer to a small fishing boat to be taken across the wadi to enable you to start your journey. The word breathtaking hardly does it justice. You will walk through the amazing canyon, until you arrive at the wadi, which leads to the Keyhole. Here you can relax; take a dip in the pools. You will have the opportunity to swim through a pool of clear water and dive through a narrow keyhole, inside you will find a magnificent cave, complete with an incredible waterfall. After travelling just a few kilometers, you will find yourselves absorbed in an almost lunar world where unreal mountains dominate the view. After breakfast at the camp, we depart at 8:30am to visit the Al Baleed museum of the Frankincense land. Haffah souk is very attractive with its small shops lined up with straight piles of incense boxes, clay incense burners colorfully decorated with traditional patterns and bags of incense crystals. Also on your way to Haffah Souk you can see some typical Dhofari houses with caravan windows and doors. Walking past the Sultan’s residential palace Al Husn, reaches to the Old Souk where Frankincense.
